Delaying Sanctions Against Maduro Enabled The Region’s Destabilization
In just one month, destabilization has swept through at least three Latin American countries with protests and violence. For the first time, there is strong evidence that the Cuban and Venezuelan regimes are behind such actions. Nonetheless, democratic governments are virtually standing idly by.
SFS Executive Director Joseph Humire told the PanAm Post that the situation in Latin America is much more complicated due to the influence and participation of Russia, China, Iran, and Turkey in the region. Humire notes that democratic governments should enact sanctions, as well as, take more steps against the network of allies supporting Maduro.
