Amenazas para la paz y la seguridad en América

After attending the Western Hemisphere Security Forum, SFS fellow Dardo López-Dolz reiterates the importance of securing Latin American against a myriad of threats. After reviewing the panels of the November 16th Forum, López-Dolz highlights that due to globalization terror networks are linked across oceans, affecting economies and borders around the world.

Depués de al Forum 2017 de Seguridad Hemisférica, SFS fellow Dardo López-Dolz reafirma la importancia de América Latina y la necessidad para proteger esta región de una multitud de amenazas. En su artículo, López-Dolz habla sobre los bloques del Forum que occurió en el 16 de Noviembre. López-Dolz destaca que “globalización no solo ha afectado a los mercados económicos, también ha borrado las fronteras para las organizaciones delictivas, incluidas aquellas que usan el terror como herramienta de conquista de poder.”

What is the Center of Latin America’s Security Challenges?

Author of this article, Adelle Nazarian, comments on Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen’s remarks at the Western Hemisphere Security Forum, hosted by the Center for a Secure Free Society and DaniIMG_7202el Morgan Graduate School. After accepting the Manwaring Award for displaying exceptional commitment and leadership to securing freedom in the Americas, Ros-Lehtinen remarked, “Hezbollah engages in widespread drug trafficking throughout the region in order to fund its terror activities and has close ties to the Venezuelan Vice President,” she said.  “Iran is also making diplomatic inroads in the Hemisphere, staffing up their embassies and sharing intelligence with other anti-U.S. regimes.”

Her comments echoed the message at the Forum: “it is time we start giving the Western Hemisphere the attention it deserves.”
