Canadians leery of mass immigration

Atlanta_Security_Line_(427400947)With the new year upon us, many are beginning to think up goals for 2018. Canada too! The Trudeau government wants to unroll a new immigration plan next year that amounts to 1 million more immigrants in the next three years, reports Candice Malcolm.

She continues by stating polls “reveal that confidence in immigration is down across the board.” She acknowledges that Canadians as a people are welcoming, but the new “immigration agenda is a dangerous combination [as it calls for] more refugees, with less security and more immigration, but with less of a focus on integration and national unity.”

The Merit System

In an article for the Weekly Standard, Fellow Candice Malcolm writes how the United States can benefit from learning from Canada’s immigration policies. This is a timely issue, especially “at a time when populist backlashes against mass, unchecked migration have erupted across the Western world, it’s common sense to focus immigration selection on economic skills and readiness for success.”
