Conference: The Crisis in Venezuela & The Summit of the Americas Media Appearances, Media Mentions

Just ahead of the SFS and USIL co-sponsored event, came a piece by La República detailing the agenda:

The conference titled, “La crisis de Venezuela y la Cumbre de las Américas,” will entail presentations by Executive Director Joseph Humire and Fellow J.D. Gordon, as well as an accompanying presentation by International Fellow Dardo López-Dolz.

This event will highlight the challenges the region faces regarding international security. SFS plans to make the case that Venezuela has become a headquarters for Hezbollah in the region. From here, the terrorists are able to plan attacks and expand their activity into the rest of the region.

He notes that a challenge for the region will be to create and enforce new laws that combat this international crime, as laws in Latin America to combat terrorism are almost all formatted for a domestic threat, like FARC in Colombia.
