Ruta de la yihad a través de Venezuela Media Mentions

Autoridades de varios países suramericanos han sido alertadas sobre la existencia de una ruta de posibles elementos extremistas islámicos, cuyo paso a través de Venezuela ha quedado documentado. Esas personas en tránsito llegan a los aeropuertos internacionales de Brasil; después de un tiempo se desplazan a la frontera con Venezuela, país que intentan atravesar para alcanzar Colombia y luego probablemente seguir su itinerario hacia Centroamérica y quizás Estados Unidos.

La alerta fue realizada en 2014 por quien entonces dirigía la Oficina Nacional Contra la Delincuencia Organizada y el Financiamiento al Terrorismo de Venezuela, Gyoris Guzmán. La denuncia de Guzmán, que ahora se encuentra en España, donde ha pedido asilo, no supuso ninguna especial reacción del Ministerio del Interior venezolano, cuya titular entonces, Carmen Meléndez, desestimó la gravedad de lo revelado por las investigaciones.

NYT Pushes Ethical Boundaries by Running Ad from U.S.-Sanctioned Venezuelan VP Media Mentions

Legal and foreign policy experts suggest the New York Times (NYT) may have pushed ethical boundaries by allowing vice president of Venezuela, a U.S.-designated drug kingpin, to blast the President Donald Trump’s administration in a full-page open letter.

Vice President Tareck El Aissami demanded that the U.S. Treasury Department rescind its decision to list him as “a Specially Designated Narcotics Trafficker pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act (Kingpin Act) for playing a significant role in international narcotics trafficking.”
